Un-still Life With Cavaliers: Very Superstitious?

Posted by on Aug 25, 2013 in Blog, Trials and Tribulations | 4 comments

Crap, I did it again didn’t I?  Not going to quote Stevie Wonder lyrics, I am not going to quote Stevie Wonder lyrics, I am NOT going to quote Stevie Wonder lyrics.  I like a theme as much as the next person, but I’ve had enough songs stuck in my head to last a lifetime.  Do not start singing “Superstition” or you will be in big trouble. I have been a little busy over the past week or two.  Started another online agility course, doing some work around the house. but mostly preparing for about 14,000 people to return to my workplace from their summer break and have all...

Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: Transitions

Posted by on Aug 14, 2013 in Blog, Trials and Tribulations | 5 comments

I had planned to call this post “Changes.”  But after doing “Fame,” I didn’t want to head down a path of 70’s songs, cleverly inserting lyrics along the way.  Eventually I would have to go for “Bohemian Rhapsody” just because, like Mount Everest, it is there, waiting to be done.  And then my head would have exploded.  Go ahead, sing, you know you want to.  I’ll wait. I was thinking about transitions (changes) over the weekend, but never got a chance to sit down and write.  The gym I worked out at for a hundred years just closed,...

Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: What Makes A Great Agility Trial?

Posted by on Aug 4, 2013 in Blog, Trials and Tribulations | Comments Off on Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: What Makes A Great Agility Trial?

Do you mark your calendar for certain agility trials, not-to-be-missed?  Here is an analogy, for my non-agility friends.  When we used to go to the local minor league baseball games we would mark our calendar for two events as soon as the schedule came out:  “Hot Dog Heaven,” where they sold hot dogs for 25 cents, and “Summer of Love,” where they played music from the 1960’s and everyone including the team wore tie-dye.  Couldn’t really get excited about Northeast Delta Dental Insurance Night.  Might go at the last minute if it was a nice evening and all...

Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: On Fame

Posted by on Jul 27, 2013 in Blog, Trials and Tribulations | 6 comments

I feel it coming together, people will see me and cry, Fame!  No, this post isn’t about me being famous, although people do see me and cry.  Although it isn’t “fame” by any stretch I would like to thank everyone who has stopped me at trials to tell me that they read this blog and find it mildly amusing.  That number has to be up to three by now. Right now we are at the local AKC agility trial and it is bringing back a flood of memories.  Twice a year we have an AKC trial not only in our home state, but actually in our home county.  You could ride a cow there from our...

Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: All the World’s A Stage

Posted by on Jul 17, 2013 in Blog, Trials and Tribulations | 2 comments

This past weekend we loaded five agility Cavaliers in the ‘Mo Mobile and headed off to Rhode Island for the United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) New England Regional Championships.  The puppies and the couch potatoes got to spend the weekend at home with a sitter.  I wanted to start this post before we left, and work on it during “down time” during the weekend.  There were several problems with this plan.  The first is that I had no idea what I was going to write about.  Would there be triumph, disappointment, amazement, compassion, admiration, redemption,...

Un-Still Life With Cavaliers: Roller Coaster (of Love)

Let’s talk about ups and downs.  Wait, did you read the title of this post?  Did you think of the song?  Which version:  Ohio Players or Red Hot Chili Peppers?  Whatever you do don’t try to look either one of them up on YouTube.  The Government is watching you.  If you watch these videos they will assume you are making illicit drugs in your home and will send agents after you.  I’ve never made illicit drugs in my home, although a couple of years ago I made something called “rubber skins” for my pause table and dog walk which involved mixing rubber, acetone,...
